In 1992, Whit Bazemore finished in the top-10 for the first time in his NHRA career. He started out his career in a Ford Mustang body, switched to the Chevrolet Camaro, and he is currently strapping himself inside a Dodge Charger. Bazemore has become one of the most well-known Funny Car drivers due to his fierce personality both on and off the track. In 2005, Bazemore led the points standings briefly before finishing in the 9th position.
At the Chicago race in 2005, Bazemore ran a special Rat Fink paint scheme to honor Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and his drag racing legacy. "Rat Fink" was created in the early '60s by Roth, who passed away in 2001. The designer of eye-popping custom hot rods and far-out monster illustrations, Big Daddy brought a fantastic style and humor to the art and car cultures. Since the early 1960s his work has inspired the work of up and coming artists all over.
