Fifty years have passed since 1947 when one of our cars, the little 125 driven by Franco Cortese, won its first race on the Caracalla circuit: it was painted red.
Fifty years later, in 1997, another red car, driven by Michael Schumacher, won five Grand Prix races in a season which proved exciting and hard-fought although it ended less triumphantly than it might have.
The history of Ferrari is bracketed between these two dates, a history of men, machines, passion, consistency, and strong ties to its roots. The history of a great man, Enzo Ferrari, then of a workshop and finally of a company that now sells its car in 40 countries around the world.
The history discloses a company that has always looked to the future with great determination, putting its love for the car, for racing and for technological progress above all else. Looking to the future and observing the world-this is the lesson that I learned from Enzo Ferrari, through a constant challenge on the roads and circuits of every continent.
A great passion for cars is the common factor that Ferrari shares both with the Fiat group, which has underpinned the development of our company since 1969, and with the workforce whose dedication has strengthened the legend of the prancing horse.
