What a rare find. Only 1,008 of these were ever produced, and they were not available to the general public. We did a special buy, and have a limited number of these 1:18 scale, over 10" long, diecasts in stock. Opening hood, steerable front wheels, highly detailed interior, chassis and engine compartment, realistic soft tires, authentic paint scheme, numbers and graphics. These are very heavy and well made.
Bobby Unser is one of the greatest race car drivers in American history. Beginning with his winning the Indianapolis 500 on 3 separate occasions (1968, 1975, 1981) and being the first driver ever to go over the 190 mile per hour mark at Indianapolis, Unser's racing career can only be described as stellar.
In his 2nd year driving for Ray Nichels, Bobby was seated in the #5 Nichels Engineering 1970 Plymouth Superbird. With his stock car schedule limited due to his Indycar racing commitments, Unser's superb racing skills were evident as he qualified the Nichels Engineering #5 Plymouth Superbird never lower than 3rd spot on the grid, earning 4 poles in just 8 races.
Unser piloted Nichels Engineering stock cars for three seasons, from 1971-1973, winning races and always running with the leaders while competing in USAC sanctioned events against some of the greatest race car drivers in America.
